Starting from Denmark, the scenic coastal drive to Albany will take approximately 45 minutes. Along the way, visitors can make a stop at the Albany Whaling Station, where they can learn about the history of whaling in the area and the conservation efforts to protect these marine mammals. Afterwards, you can continue to explore the rich history of Albany by visiting one of the many museums in the area, such as the National Anzac Centre, which tells the story of Australia’s involvement in WWI through interactive exhibits and displays. Alternatively, visitors can visit the Albany Convict Gaol Museum, which offers a glimpse into the lives of convicts who were sent to Western Australia in the 1800s. From there, continue your journey to Albany and take in the stunning coastal views along the way. This morning enjoy the coast one last time as you will be heading inland on your journey back to Perth. The drive from Albany to Katanning covers a distance of approximately 180 kilometers and takes around 2 hours. Along the way, you will pass through beautiful countryside, rolling hills, farmland, and forests. Once in Katanning, you will find a range of shops, restaurants, and other amenities to enjoy, as well as several local attractions such as the Katanning Historical Museum, the Piesse Lake Wetlands, and the Katanning Regional Art Gallery.
The drive from Katanning to Perth covers a distance of approximately 290 kilometers and takes around 3 and a half hours. The route follows Albany Highway, passing through several small towns and rural areas before reaching the city of Armadale, around 80 kilometers from Perth. Perhaps on your drive through check out the Dardanup Heritage Park. Dardanup Heritage Park is a museum and historical park located in the town of Dardanup, Western Australia. The park covers an area of around 7 hectares and features a range of historical buildings, machinery, and equipment from the early days of the town and surrounding region. Some of the notable exhibits include a blacksmith’s forge, a sawmill, a general store, and a railway station. You can take self-guided tours and explore the exhibits at your own pace, or join a guided tour to learn more about the history and significance of the park and its exhibits. From Armadale, the road becomes more built-up and turns into a multi-lane freeway, passing through several suburbs of Perth before arriving in the central business district of the city. Perth has many attractions to explore, including Kings Park and Botanic Garden, the Perth Mint, and several beautiful beaches like Cottesloe Beach and Scarborough Beach.
